Custom Barn Door and Shiplap Entryway with Urban Wall Design!

Today I’m sharing two new additions to the new house- a barn door and a shiplap accent wall from Urban Wall Design!

One of my FAVORITE additions to our new house has been the barn door and shiplap wall! Basically all I wanted for Christmas this year was a barn door, and my wish came true. I wanted to share two additions we recently made to our home- a barn door for the Master Bedroom and a shiplap accent wall in our entryway! First, the barn door in our Master Bedroom was exactly what we needed to separate the bathroom and the bedroom. It gives the perfect amount of privacy in the master bathroom. It not only is functional but looks beautiful as well! It really makes a statement and I love the look of it in our home. You can use barn doors in all different areas of the house too such as a kitchen pantry, laundry room, closet door, playroom or office, and even bedroom doors. You also don’t need to have the farmhouse decor to get a barn door. Barn doors are functional art that allows you to have privacy or sleep in when your spouse is getting ready. Candi, the owner and designer said, “we like to tell people that we help marriages by allowing them to get sleep.”

The second thing we worked on with the team from Urban Wall Design, was a shiplap accent wall in the entryway. I am obsessed with shiplap, and thought it would look amazing to do something with the blank wall in the entryway. It looked sort of drab and “needed something” to make it pop. I also wanted something that would make a statement right when you walk into the house. Having the shiplap accent wall really makes the space so inviting and actually seems larger. The team from Urban Wall Design, helped come up with the idea for an accent wall. I think accent walls really “make” a room and make it more unique. You can do an accent wall for a nursery, playroom or media room, entryway, family room, fireplace, bathroom, and even on a kitchen island. When painted shiplap walls add subtle texture, opens up the space, and brightens a room.
