Nursery Closet Makeover: Elfa Closet System and Nursery Organization!

May 9, 2019

My dream nursery closet has been achieved with the help of The Container Store and the installation of the ELFA Closet System!

With exactly two weeks until baby gets here, I’m in FULL ON nesting mode! This pregnancy has been a whirlwind of emotions, pregnancy aches and pains, mixed with overwhelming joy and excitement to have a little boy! Between that, work, and chasing after a toddler, it was clear to me that I needed some help with baby’s nursery closet and organization. It was perfect timing when one of my favorite stores ever, The Container Store, reached out to me about installing the ELFA Closet System in the nursery. I wanted to share with you the Before + After of the closet system! Before the ELFA System, everything was so un-organized, and there wasn’t adequate storage for all the small items baby need. Also, it was cluttered with stuff from my office too.

BEFORE

AFTER

You guys, the process was SO easy and was installed in no time. With the help of a Container Store designer and the ELFA Design Center, I was able to design my dream closet for the nursery. You can choose from a wide variety of finishes such as birch wood or metal shelves. With the ELFA system, you can choose to install it yourself or have a professional installer come and do it for you. We chose to have someone come and install it for us, and it was the best decision. It took him under two hours to complete the install of the entire closet system and was very helpful and professional. There are several reasons why we love and chose the ELFA closet system. First, the shelves are adjustable and made of durable epoxy-bonded steel. I loved the idea of having additional storage on top for baby gear and miscellaneous items I wouldn’t store in his dresser. The additional shelves on the side are perfect with these Rattan woven baskets for storing additional items and keeping them organized. In my baskets, I have his rolled up swaddles and his baby toys.

I also have the hanging section for his hang-up outfits shorter. But as he grows, I can adjust the height which is so nice. Perfect for little baby clothing 🙂

I also organized the pull-out drawers to fit his small clothes. To keep everything in categories I use this label maker! It is so helpful to have everything labeled and know what size each item is. Also, I used these adjustable drawer organizers to separate his clothes and make it more neat. I categorized the items in the drawers by sizes (newborn + 0-3 months), leggings, blankets, towels, and newborn hats. I did the Marie Kondo method of folding for the smaller clothes, which freed up even more space and I’m also able to quickly see where the clothing items are without having to pull everything out of the drawer.

This open, large middle shelving is perfect for displaying his cute baby shoes, and other items such as diapers or stuffed animals!

DRESSER ORGANIZATION

The Container Store has so many products to get your dresser organized too! I used these clear shallow containers in a variety of sizes to organize the two top drawers with his necessities. Baby items are soo tiny, and can be easily misplaced. So I knew I wanted to have places for everything to make mama’s life easier! The top drawer is his pacifiers and clips, burp cloths, mittens, etc. As he gets older, I will be adding and replacing these items. The bottom drawer is all his baby basics such as diaper cream, lotions, etc. I used another drawer to store diapers and wipes, and more clothes and baby gear.

ROLLING CART

I like to call this my “new baby” rolling cart, because that’s exactly what I use it for! This 3-tier rolling cart has a lot of the stuff I will need right by my bedside after the baby arrives. He will be sleeping next to me in a bassinet in our room, so I wanted a neat, and organized storage solution to store some basic necessities that I’ll be needing. It’s nice to keep everything on this rolling cart because you can easily wheel it around without straining yourself, you can keep it right by your bedside, and its all organized for those blurry middle of the night feedings. The top section I’m having wipes, diaper cream, burp cloths, the baby shusher, and some spare pacifiers. The middle section I have my stuff such as disposable nursing pads, nipple cream, etc. The bottom section I am storing diapers! You can use these wire baskets to organize everything and keep it looking neat. I also used the clear shallow organizers on the top, this storage caddy, and this twill drawer organizer to store the diapers

I can’t explain how obsessed I am with this new closet system! It really has made organizing and getting prepared for the baby so much easier! Right now, The Container Store is having an amazing SALE!!! Right now until May 19th, hundreds of closet storage and organization essentials are up to 25% OFF! Also, installation is FREE when you spend $750 or more on Elfa!

A huge thank you to The Container Store for making our nursery closet an absolute dream!
