Kennedy’s New Nursery!
I have re-decorated Kennedy’s room in the new house! I can’t wait to share with you her new room and the fun decor!
I’m SO excited to finally share with you Kennedy’s new nursery! I have been working on her room since we moved in, and it has been quite a work in progress. My handy husband Alex did the wainscoting and wallpaper himself, which I’m so impressed by his DIY skills! We also changed out the baseboards and moved her dresser to her walk-in-closet to clear space for her to play. Since she is 2 years old now, I wanted her room more open for playtime and her toys, so having her dresser in the closet has been so great! Decorating my little girl’s room has been SO much fun, I secretly didn’t want it to end! I also loved decorating her last room when we lived in Texas, you can view her old nursery here.
Some new changes to her room is that I changed up the style a bit and added some new decor! Here are some new items I added to her room here in California: glider, a gallery wall, light fixture, area rug, crib bedding, above crib decor, and added a reading corner with open shelves. Her reading corner has to be my favorite part of her room. Kennedy absolutely LOVES her reading corner and is obsessed with all her books now. She liked reading time before, but since all her books are displayed so she can easily see them, she can spend all afternoon here with me reading to her. My favorite part about bedtime is snuggling with her on her glider, rocking her and reading her bedtime stories. The Vola glider from Monte Designs is so beautiful and comfortable too! I love the feminine design and how perfect it goes in her room. It is smaller than her other glider, but I love that because it fits so much better in her room. It definitely opens up her room more and doesn’t take up a lot of space. This glider comes in 29 different fabrics and you can also choose what wood base color you want. I chose the white micro-suede fabric with the walnut wood base. The color scheme I chose for her room is pink, light grey, white, and gold accents! I also love the Caitlin Wilson Design Persian rug I choose for her new room. The Luna Rug has pops of pink and periwinkle blue and accents the other colors in her room perfectly. Kennedy is such a girly girl, yet is very active, outgoing and silly! So I feel like this lively and feminine room reflects her personality perfectly!
In Kennedy’s last nursery, I had a paper flower wall above her crib! I loved the pop of flowers above her crib and knew I wanted to add flowers to her wall again. Since she is older, she was able to grab the flowers down, so I found another alternative- wallpaper! I got the wallpaper from Rocky Mountain Decals and I’m obsessed! Since we were installing wainscoting around her room, I liked the idea of doing the other half wallpaper. It is such a beautiful wallpaper for a little girl’s room and it was surprisingly very easy to install. This wallpaper is the peel-and-stick, so my husband was able to do it himself with no issues! I also added a gallery photo wall from Framebridge to one wall in her room! I chose the “Up the Wall” Gallery Wall and love the mixed metals this gallery wall comes with! I was originally going to hang these in our stairs, but thought it would be unique to put these in her room instead. I love looking at all the photos from her newborn session and 1st birthday!
