I have traveled on an airplane and on small road trips with Kennedy, but I am no expert on traveling with a baby. But I want to share with you some things and tips that have worked for Kennedy and I when traveling! Kennedy is five months old now, and I have flown four times with her (two times by myself!!!), and have done three driving road trips with her!
The biggest tip I have for anyone traveling with a baby for the first time is to be prepared. I started shopping for things I would need for my flight and trip way in advance and I had already done all my research on what I would need for the flight and what I would need for the actual trip. It takes lots of pre-planning and being ORGANIZED!!! I went to buybuy BABY before my trip to get everything I needed. I have been to lots of baby stores, and buybuy BABY by far has the BEST selection and the best staff0- they are always so so helpful. They are very knowledgeable about every product and some of the workers I talked to are parents themselves, so they had some advice on their experience with the products as well. So I suggest, if you have time to prepare, to go to a buybuy BABY store near you and shop for the products. Of course, their online store is just as amazing and I love shopping their online site as well!
Another big tip I have is to check with your airline on what you will need to bring for your baby. I fly Southwest with Kennedy, and I brought her birth certificate and I had to show it at the ticket counter. If you are flying alone like I was, you can try to be extra friendly or find some worker who looks nice ;), and ask if your spouse or whoever is with you to escort you through security to the gate. The Southwest worker was really sweet and gave my husband a special pass so he can help me through security and walk us to our gate! That was SUCH a blessing because going through security with all my bags and stroller, car seat and the baby was stressing me out. So much so, I even practiced at home the night before so I would make sure it went smoothly! haha I checked all my luggage and kept the Babyhome stroller, Maxi Cosi Mico 30 carseat, Fawn diaper bag, Doc a Tot, and my personal purse for the airplane. Looking back it was a bit much to haul through the airport, but all the things I brought I ended up using. While we were waiting for our plane to arrive which was over an hour, I was able to set the doc a tot down and lay her down in it at the gate. She played there and was entertained with her toys until the plane came. I wanted to keep the stroller with me so it would be easy to carry my bags and clip the doc a tot on it. Luckily, there was extra seats on the flight, so I was able to bring the car seat on the seat next to me!!! This was another big blessing, and I honestly don’t know how I would’ve survived the almost four hour flight without that extra seat. It was easy to reach down into my bags and prepare her bottles without having her wiggling in my lap. If you are able to afford to pay for an infant or extra seat, I would totally say DO IT!!!!! It makes traveling so much easier! She sat in her car seat most of the time playing and eventually fell asleep! She didn’t cry once and was so happy and smiley the whole time. I tried to not get stressed and to be happy and smiley with Kennedy, and I think that made a huge difference on her mood the whole time. Babies can pick up on your mood and can pick up on bad energy, and will get in a bad mood if you are stressed and in a bad mood. I made sure during take off and landing to give her a bottle to prevent her ears from getting clogged. Most babies will scream and cry at take off and landing, because the air pressure hurts their ears. On the flight back home, my husband Alex was there to help, which was nice because this time she cried a few times! We brought the doc a tot and layed it down across our laps and she napped a couple times on it! This flight we were also lucky, because we had a whole row to ourselves. From hearing stories from friends and family and my own flying experience, flying with Southwest is so great if you have a baby. They are really family friendly and are really helpful if you have a baby. They have changing pads in all their bathrooms, which is nice because Kennedy had about 3 diaper changes during the flight. Some other airlines I heard don’t have ANY changing pads on their planes. Southwest also lets you check the car seat and stroller for free with your other luggage. If you do check the stroller and car seat, I would definitely invest in a padded cover for both. I have heard stories from other moms saying the car seat broke and so did their nice stroller from being thrown around in baggage and transport.
For airplane and car rides, I find it is easier to quickly feed her the liquid premixed formula (or breastfeed if you are breastfeeding!). My hands are always full and sometimes didn’t have a hand free to reach down into the bag, pull everything out and take the time to mix it. So this made my travels with a baby go more smoothly. Just a heads up, most airports will need to do a special screening for any liquid formula or water brought through security. You ARE allowed to bring water throughs security if it is for your formula, but they will need to test it which takes extra time. I had to get a full pat down for bringing my pre-made liquid formula. So make sure you have someone to hold your baby or have the car seat or stroller handy to set your baby down during this. It was a hassle of course, but much easier to have it all ready for when she was hungry on the plane!
I also love bringing my Lille Baby carrier wherever I go with Kennedy! I used this in the airport when I needed my hands free to deal with luggage and such, walking around the city, at the grocery store, or when you just want your baby close to you. It’s also good if you know you are going to be out and about for a long time and don’t want your baby’s head resting on the car seat for too long (to prevent a flat spot).
At all of our parent’s houses in California, we had Kennedy sleep in a pack n play, like the one listed above. It was great because it fit her doc a tot, and it is easy to take into another room if we needed to watch her. I used the Babyhome stroller the entire trip in California and brought it because it is SO light and fits easily in people’s cars. It folds really compact and fits in the cars when we had all of luggage as well. I also like how it has a big storage basket on the bottom for shopping and holding all her stuff. I bought the Maxi Cosi car seat attachments so it is compatible with our car seat which is the Maxi Cosi Mico 30. I also used the Blooming Bath for the three weeks I was in California. It fits in most kitchen sinks, and it’s easy to ring out and put away. It folds up nicely and didn’t take up too much room in my suitcase.
We did a road trip last month to Austin, Texas with Kennedy and that also took some planning as well. It’s a hassle and time consuming to plan her outfits, toys and necessities ahead of time, but things go so much smoother this way I think. For the road trip I always make sure I bring a portable changing bag and the bags to put the dirty diaper in. I have used this in the car for quick changes, the hotel, or when we are out and about. It’s nice to have those small diaper bags to put clothes that have blowouts on them when you are on the plane or in the car.
Hope you guys got some useful information on my travel tips post! Please comment or email me with any questions and I am happy to answer them! XOXO

Happy Friday guys! I felt like this week went by SO fast! Maybe because I was in California until Wednesday, but now we are back in Houston! It was so nice to go home and enjoy time with Kennedy, Alex and my family. I got to enjoy the beautiful weather and eat at my favorite restaurants. Literally every time we go on vacation, our whole trip is just planned around where we are going to eat everyday! haha But it is nice being back home in Houston again.
I’m so happy I got this white lace dress for Easter and to wear in the spring with a pop of color! I ordered it online, and I read some reviews saying it didn’t fit well, but when I got it and tried it on, it fit perfectly!!! I LOVE the fit and the slight flare of the dress, and it is really flattering as well! I received so many compliments when I wore it on Sunday, and it it is definitely a great classic dress to keep in your wardrobe. I love wearing a white dress for spring and summer with pops of color. Whether it is adding a bright heel, a colorful bangle, or a subtle colored drop earring like these beautiful Kendra Scott ones. I usually always love to incorporate some texture in my outfits as well, such as some lace or leather. I love the lace texture of this dress and the lace going down the sleeves! You can also shop some of the hair product’s I used to achieve my hair style in the links above. Thanks for stopping by and hope you guys have a great weekend! XOXO
Today I want to share with you what is currently on my vanity and all the makeup I have been using an loving! I am a sucker for makeup and beauty products, and have been obsessed with them since I was a little girl playing with my mom’s makeup. Over the years, I have tried SO many different makeup brands and products, and have also found out what I like and don’t like. I did acting right out of high school when I turned 18 until 4 years ago. Every job I booked I would always talk with the makeup artists and ask them what products and makeup they themselves loved and used all the time. Some of the products shown below are some of my all time favorites such as the Smashbox “Halo” Powder, MAC lipstick in “Angel,” lip liner in “Dervish,” and Bobbi Brown pink blush! These are products I have continued to buy over and over again and I absolutely LOVE them. I have found some amazing makeup products lately that I am obsessed with as well. Scroll down to read and see more about them all! XOXO
These are two amazing mascaras that I use and LOVE. The L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara is comparable to mostly all the department store ones I have tried and it is really inexpensive. It easily coats every lash and makes them really dark too!!! I love the Butter London mascara, but if I had to stick with one forever it would be the Telescopic! The best Bronzer and Highlighter Duo from Charlotte Tilbury! I use the bronzer everyday to contour my cheeks and the rest of my face, and the highlighter down the bridge of my nose and on my cheeks. I love how subtle and natural they both look when applied, yet they do the job well! I am a blush fan and think blush really does tie together a whole makeup look. I love playing with different blush shades and these three are all my favs! The Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Cheek blush in “SEX ON FIRE” is great for a natural, everyday look. I love MAC mineralize blush in “GENTLE” for daytime and also evening as well. Lastly, my staple blush I will always love and use for an angelic or put together look is Bobbi Brown in “PALE PINK”! There are three different powders I use for different reasons. First, the pressed powder I use to set my under-eye counselor and before I apply my eyeshadow. The loose setting powder is translucent and I always have to set my foundation right after I apply it. Then, I will apply my blush, bronzer, etc. on top of that! This translucent powder leaves no color behind and leaves my foundation with a velvety, soft finish and look. My skin gets oily throughout the day, and this definitely helps a lot to prevent it from getting oily! The Smashbox Halo Powder is great for touch ups throughout the day or if you just want a light powder for on-the-go and don’t feel like applying foundation. It hydrates your skin and leaves it covered without it looking caked on.The makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury is known for doing the makeup for all the supermodels and Victoria Secret models. She started using this Magic Cream on all her clients and backstage years ago. She finally started her own makeup line, and started selling this “magic cream” for everyone to have! I know it is a bit on the pricey side, but I have LOVED the results after using this on my skin. I use massage it into my skin before I apply my foundation and primer. It has totally transformed the look and feel of my skin, and makes my makeup go on so smooth. It also doesn’t make my face look oily and greasy which is important for me! I highly recommend this every day cream for anyone looking for an amazing skin care product that will help your makeup look better! I got a sample of this Magic Foundation a couple months ago and have loved it since. I like how it has SPF 15 already in it, and the medium coverage which is build-able is so amazing. I wear the color “4” and it matches perfect with my skin. If you are debating which shade to get, I would actually go a shade lighter than you think, and just use bronzer and blush to add more color to your face! The concealor on the left is Cle de Peau and the one of the right is from the drugstore and is Maybelline Instant Age Rewind. Both work amazing and cover dark circles, pimples and anything else great!!! I love the feel and coverage the Cle de Peu gives, and the color also matches perfectly! The Instant Age Rewind is so easy to apply because of the twist and tap on applicator. The coverage and color are amazing as well! Both of these I highly recommend. This candle I get almost monthly smells SOOO heavenly and amazing. It makes our home smell so good and I’m obsessed with the scent! Trust me- its a must have!
Is there a better feeling than looking cute when you head out the door but still feel SO comfortable in what you’re wearing?! Since becoming a new mom, I’m always on the hunt now for ALL things comfortable that are also flattering and stylish. This top is all of these things!
This t-shirt has been my everyday staple tee since I got it! I love it so much I got it in white as well, and plan on getting it in other colors to stock up for spring and summer. Little style tip of the day: this top makes you look instantly put together when slightly tucked into jeans! Usually during the week when I’m out running errands or playing with Kennedy and doing mommy duties I’m in something comfortable. I’m either wearing a comfy tee and jeans, or leggings, sneakers and a workout top- without the working out most the time 😉
Also, I ordered these white jeans and they are actually really great quality and fit really well for the price (under $80). If you order online, you can also get a second pair of jeans (any wash or style) for 50% off, which I thought was a great deal!! Hope you guys enjoyed this casual and comfy look! XOXO
Happy Friday! I wanted to round up some my favorite things I’ve been using and loving lately!
These mint sneakers are so cute with workout leggings and are perfect for spring! They also come in the prettiest pink color as well.
I tried out Charlotte Tilbury makeup when I was on the hunt for the perfect foundation and lipstick and FINALLY found both. The foundation isn’t shown above, but here is what I use in color 4. It is amazing and goes on so smooth and has a build able coverage. This lipstick and lip liner that I use almost everyday gives the perfect pink/ nude shade and makes my lips look really full and pouty. The Magic Cream was something I got a sample of from the makeup counter, and I noticed a tremendous difference in my skin’s texture, smoothness, and fine lines after I started using it. I put it on in the morning before my foundation and my foundation goes on better and looks 100 times better since I have been using this. It is a bit pricier than I would like, but I honestly think it’s worth it if you really want something that will actually work amazing.
Totes are the only bag I will wear nowadays, and I really love large ones to hold all of my stuff and Kennedy’s stuff. This Rebecca Minkoff one is such a great tan color to go with any outfit.
The white fur heart shaped pillow caught my eye for Kennedy’s nursery and I can’t wait to order it! I am in the process of re-decorating our bedroom, so this blush pink throw is a MUST! It is going to look great with the light and airy yet glam feel I’m going for.
These espadrille wedges were sitting in my shopping cart for a while, but I’m SO happy I decided to get them because they are by far my favorite wedge I’ve ever worn. They are surpassingly super comfy and easy to walk in, and they go great with almost any outfit. I love wearing mine with jeans for a date night or a cute dress for church.
I am loving soft pastels and light jeans for spring, and I love this cardigan and ripped white jeans for a perfect weekend casual outfit! It would be so cute with the wedges for a girls lunch or brunch with my hubby!
Hope you guys enjoyed my round-up of what I have been loving! Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by to check out my post! XOXO
