Hope you had an amazing weekend! I am getting ready for a really busy week ahead. I have to pack for our trip to California this week and our trip to Cabo after that. I am getting everything organized and writing down my to-do list for tonight and tomorrow. I like to pack ahead of time and have a check list of everything I packed and need, just in case I forget something (which is the worst!!) Luckily we will be staying with our families in California, so worst comes to worst we can borrow some of their stuff!
I have rounded up a bunch of cute summer pieces and Fourth of July looks for the upcoming holiday! I got this cute “America” shirt and I am OBSESSED! It is so perfect with these white jeans or some cute cut-off shorts for the 4th (like these ones here and here) I got Kennedy’s dress from Baby Gap and I think it is absolutely the cutest little dress she has! I wanted to get something she could wear throughout the summer, not just on the Fourth, and thought this was perfect to wear all summer long. I also got here these cute gold sandals and they go with pretty much every outfit. They are really soft and comfortable for her to wear! They also come in really cute colors such as tan and navy for little boys.
I have a bunch of cute options below, simpliy click on the image of what you want to shop. It will take you directly to the product you want to shop. Also, I have rounded up some cute Fourth of July outfits for the littles as well below! What are your plans for the Fourth of July?! Do you have any traditions you and your family love to do each year? We are going to be with Alex’s family and his parents are having a big Fourth of July pool party with lots of good BBQ and all the cousins will be there together. We cannot wait to see them all and have Kennedy spend time with her cousins. Thanks for stopping by! XOXO
Happy Monday! I hope you had a fun and relaxing weekend. On Saturday it was so hot here in Houston (over 95 degrees), so we tried to do things indoors to stay out of the heat. We went to the mall and picked up some things for our upcoming trip to California and Cabo in a couple weeks, and had a BBQ with some of Alex’s co-workers! On Father’s Day, we took Kennedy to look at puppies at the local animal shelters (we aren’t planning on getting a dog just yet 😉 ) and I surprised Alex with his favorite Sprinkles cupcakes and a trip to Topgolf. I had never been to Topgolf before and never really hit golf balls at a driving range. But by our final game against each other, I was able to tie Alex 84 to 84! It was such a fun and perfect ending to Alex’s first Father’s Day!
I wore this cute linen maxi dress on Saturday while we were out and about, and I love it for summer. It is such a great length and I love the button details in the front and the tie waist. It is a soft linen fabric, the fact that it has pockets, and it is really breathable! It looks SO cute with sneakers or sandals like these ones I’m wearing in the pics! I had ordered a Medium online, but it was a tad too big. I am planning on exchanging it for a small tomorrow. I was wearing a medium/small when I ordered it, but I am wearing mainly size small now- so it fits true to size. It is partially lined so it is NOT see through- a major plus 😉 lol
I’ve been stocking up on cute and comfy summer dresses to deal with this heat here in Texas. I have been wearing mainly dresses everywhere lately, and they are so easy to just throw on and not have to spend too much time picking out an outfit. I have gotten some cute things for our trips and I can’t wait to share them all with you guys! I will be posting some outfits in the upcoming weeks of my fav outfits and swimsuits I got and for Kennedy too. Hope you guys enjoyed this look and thanks for stopping by! XOXO
Since becoming a mom, I have totally changed the way I shop for clothes. Before I would still have it be my goal to always find clothes that are comfortable. But now since I am always picking Kennedy up and down off the floor, and playing around with her, I NEED to wear outfits that are not only cute but comfortable!
This super soft and great quality shirt has an extra something to it. The material is really great and I feel like it is totally worth the price! It is just as comfy as a regular looser fitting top, but is an upgrade to your usual everyday tee! It has cute ruffled sleeves and comes in three different colors! The best part is it is under $50 and has free shipping! I already have it in the two other colors I love it that much!
I love wearing my “skinny” boyfriend jeans with cute but comfy tees and a cute pair of sneakers like my white converse for summer. I ordered a size up in both the shirt and the pants, because I wanted a more relaxed fit for both. I have been bust getting our passports and Kennedy’s too, for our upcoming vacation to Cabo, Mexico! We are SOO excited to go there in a few weeks, and have been scouring the internet for some cute outfits and swimsuits! I can’t wait to share with you guys my latest finds for our trip! XOXO
*This post is in partnership with buybuy BABY, a brand I love. All opinions here are my own.
I wanted to share with you all toys Kennedy has LOVED playing with since she was 7 months old. Some of these toys and products can be used even earlier, about 6 months! Such as the Laugh and Learn Puppy and the Infantino activity gym and ball pit! These are my top toys and baby products I recommend for ages 7-9 months old!
On a side note, I was looking for a great product to clean her toys and wipe up her spit up and drool, and found the amazing line of safe cleaning products from Dapple! They are plant bases and non-toxic! Kennedy puts everything in her mouth and licks all her toys, so I definitely wanted something that would be safe if she ingested any trace of it.I use the Dapple Fragrance Free Toy and High Chair Cleaner to wipe up her high chair after meal time and all her toys. The Pure and Clean Everything Spray for cleaning her nursery and play mat, and other things such as shopping cart handles. Their on the go pacifier wipes, hands and face wipes and everything wipes are ALWAYS on hand in my diaper bag!!! I also wash her bottles, teething toys and pacifiers with their Pure n’ Clean Baby Bottles Dishes Liquid Dish Cleaner!
I hope you guys will find this post useful when deciding which toys to get your little one! If you have any questions, feel free to email me or comment below, or ask any of the buybuy BABY store employees! They are so helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to baby products, and I always love going to the buybuy BABY store and shopping there! It is always such a pleasant and fun experience!
The puppy has been her FAVORITE toy since she was about 5 months old! It is meant for ages 6 plus, but honestly Kennedy couldn’t get enough of her “Mr. Puppy” from such an early age. It has songs and says phrases and has a red heart that lights up. She gets SOO excited and happy when she plays with it and it sings or talks to her. It has over 50 sing along songs, phrases, and tunes. It helps develop sensory and fine motor skills in your child. If I had to keep only one toy for Kennedy, this would be it and she would be happy as a clam! The puppy also has different levels once your baby gets older, and it can easily be turned on and off!
Kennedy loves to take the rings on and off of this toy and chew on them as well! I think she loves how soft they are and they have the crinkle stuff on the inside that babies go crazy for! So once she takes the ring off she loves to play with it and hear the crinkle sound. She will toss the rings from one hand to another and different textures on the rings help with her sense of touch and feel. This is such a great toy and activity for baby to do once they start sitting up! Another great option would be to put your baby in a Bumbo seat and put the stackable rings in front of them to give them something to do while they strengthen their core in the seat. That is a great activity until they start fully sitting up on their own!
This is such a fun book for us to read together! It has six nursery rhymes that sing to her and on the side colorful piano keys. This book is great way for them to hear and learn nursery rhymes and a great introduction to music through hearing all the different instrument sounds. There are little pieces that slide and twist on the pages, so it makes reading with her fun and interactive for her!
has been our favorite activity center since Kennedy was a newborn! It grows with your baby and can be used once they start sitting up too. She loved laying on the mat and starting at all the bold prints and the sea animals hanging above her. We she started doing tummy time she loved looking at all the bright and fun colors and pictures on the playmat. Now she is sitting up all on her own, we converted it to the ball pit and she LOVES playing in there with all her balls! It comes with 40 colorful balls and the balls can easily be stored away with the turtle storage pouch on the side of the mat. She can spend so much time in there entertaining herself and having a blast!!
I was researching some ways to make her playtime more interactive and start to spark her imagination, and I came across animal puppets! I have been reading picture books to her lately and pointing out all the animals and making the sounds for her so she will start to recognize them. She thinks it is the funniest thing when I make all the silly animal sounds. I will do funny animal voices and talk to her with these puppets and play peek a boo! She can’t get enough of them and I can tell she is having so much fun. It helps me bond with her more during playtime because I am playing with her and helping her learn the animals and use her imagination for stories I make up with the animals! I think these are something my baby and I will continue to use and love for years to come!
Since Kennedy has started crawling at the beginning of 8 months, the next milestone will probably be standing up and walking! I got this fun walker for her to start using now and so she can still use it for months and months after. It can be played with on the floor for a baby who is still only on her tummy or sitting up. The activity center is removable and can be taken on and off the walker. Also, you can have it up like in the picture and the baby can play with it sitting up, and then the baby can start using it to push around and walk with! I really think this toy was a great investment because it can be used for so many months and different stages in her development. As you can see, Kennedy loves to sit and play with the piano buttons, the light up shapes, and absolutely loves the phone that talks when you pick it up!
I was looking for a pool float with a sun shade for this summer and found this one at buybuy BABY! It is perfect for little ones because it keeps them out of the sun with the canopy, and has an activity center in front of them with dangling toys and teething toys to enjoy in the pool! It also folds up easily and has a bad for transporting it. We plan on taking it with us on our summer vacation to Mexico next month!
Here is Kennedy’s 7 month update! I have been really bad with posting regularly because I am taking a maternity leave from blogging and posting full-time. But I wanted to share with you Kennedy’s 7 month update! She is now 8 months old, but I still wanted to share with you guys everything that happened with Kennedy during her 7th month!
When Kennedy was 7 months old, she was eating around 25 ounces of formula a day, and I usually feed her after she wakes up from her naps and a bottle after bath right before I put her down for bed. She also ate 2-3 tablespoons of solids 1-2 times a day. Some foods Kennedy loved eating was mainly vegetables and some fruit. She had sweet potatoes, butternut squash, carrots, peas, prunes, bananas and strawberries! I also give her oatmeal every morning for breakfast about an hour after she wakes up. I love the oatmeal from the brand Happy Baby! I have a lot of their baby food products and Kennedy starting eating the teething biscuits, puffs and yogis while she was 7 months and now eats those as snacks during the day.
I feel like at the end of 7 months Kennedy’s physical skills and language changed a lot! At the end of 7 months, beginning of 8 months she started crawling! All throughout the 7th month she was just scooting and spinning to get to where she wanted to go! But now I can call her to me and she will come crawling’ away! She started wearing size 9-12 months while she was 7 months old and size 2 shoes. Some activities I enjoyed doing with her while she was 7 months old include swimming her on the swing at the park, going on walks, having her crawl around and feel the grass at the park, go on nature walks and explain and point out everything to her, read her books and teach her animals and sounds, go run errands with mommy, play at The Little Gym, have playdates with her baby friends, and of course playing with Daddy! She also loves spending a lot of time on her play mat and playing with her toys!!
CHANGES + MILESTONES AT 7 MONTHS OLD:
She is about 29″ and weighs 21 pounds! I have a baby scale at home and measured her myself at home, so that is what I got!
She is scooting and spinning to where she wants to go! She is pretty long, so she is able to stretch her arms out and reach for mostly anything she wants too haha!
She is still sleeping about 11-12 hours straight a night! I have been putting her to bed earlier, between 6:30pm-7:15pm and she still sleeps amazing!
She LOVES all food and loves her veggies! There isn’t anything she doesn’t like so far (knock on wood) 😉
She has been able to sit up on her own now without any assistance!
Kennedy loves grabbing things and putting EVERYTHING in her mouth! She also likes sucking on her fingers and her fist. haha I got her this banana teething toy and the Sophie the Giraffe, and she LOVES them!
She has two bottom teeth and she loves to show them off and cheese all the time to people!
She loves other babies and adults, but mainly gets so excited and happy when she sees young babies and kids!
She is very content and happy, and could go days without getting super upset!
She still naps 3 times a day, and her wake time is usually only 2 hours before she starts to rub her eyes and let mommy know it’s time for a nap. I have gotten so many DMs and questions about her blackout shades in her nursery. So her window in her nursery goes across the whole wall and is floor to ceiling!! We have white drapes up but the light was still shining though, and her naps were not as long as I would like. I had her napping in the closet for the longest time because it is pitch black in there, but I needed something effective and cheap to make her room a space for her to nap again. I got these black out shades form Home Depot and they work amazing!! They are really reasonable and make her nursery now completely dark!!! She can nap now up to 2 hours in the dark nursery during the day!
I have been taking her to a mommy and me baby class every week since she was 4 months old! It’s at a place called The Little Gym and Kennedy LOVES it! She has some little friends she loves to see each week, and she loves her teachers there! When we go into the gym she lights up and gets super excited. We do lots of songs, baby stretches and flips, games and exploration time!
Here are just some snapshots of this past month, and some things Kennedy loves to do now!
Run errands and go shopping with mommy! I love this shopping cart cover I got off of Amazon. It is really wide and fits on every shopping car perfectly. I also am really impressed with the quality and style of it as well…
Kennedy loves the park and playing on the grass! I have to keep a close eye on her though, because she will put all that grass in her mouth if I’m not watching! haha
She has become mommy’s best friend and my little buddy!!!
She sits up most of the time in the bath tub and loves playing with her bath toys! I also LOVE all the Noodle & Boo bath products, and if you love the fresh baby smell you will love their entire line!
Another funny thing Kennedy loves to do is play in her crib with ALL of her stuffed animals. I will put her in her crib with all of them and she gets super excited and happy and can be in there for a long time super happy! Kennedy now sits up in the high chair and loves eating at the table with mommy and daddy at restaurants now!
At The Little Gym having a blast exploring!
She LOVVEESSS the pool and hanging out in her pool floats in her flamingo swimsuit! haha She is such a little diva! I have two for her that I both equally love. One is a flamingo float which is so adorable for summer, and the baby pool float has an activity toy in the front and an SPF 50+ sun shade canopy which is nice if she is in the sun for a while! This turkish towel is really cute for summer and is from Lulujo.com! I got her pink glasses here and her bucket hat here!
